Downunder
insurance offer many different types of insurance package
including annual multi-trip, Adventurer, Backpacker, Comprehensive
and Essentials (which is the basic package).
Downunder offer a lot of things that standard insurers
do not, such as 18 month policies, free cover for under
2s, 50% off for under 18s. They automatically cover 80+
'hazardous activities' such as white water rafting, bungee
jumping, kayaking (a full list can be found in the policy
documents).
General
comments:
The
static pages are very amateurish being very text heavy
in order to get as many references to "Travel insurance"
in as possible, basically making the page messy and
non-sensical.
The pages where you enter your details are easy enough
to fill in, though the 'Continue' button is not obvious.
The premium page is simple with the cover type and premium
showing. No detail is shown on the page.
Help text is not the easiest to use and just opens a
static page full of text.

Single
trip / Annual multi-trip
All
types of policy are done via the same system
so there is no need to split them.
First
screen - details
- Destination - options UK, Europe, Worldwide (excl
USA & Canada), Australia & New Zealand, Worldwide
(incl USA & Canada).
- Start date, select from a calendar
- Duration (from 5, 10, 17, 24, 35, 45 days or from
2 months to 18 months)
- Anyone in the party become 45 during the policy term
(yes or no)
- Adults on the policy (0 - 10)
- Children on the policy, 2 years to 18 years (0 - 10)
- Infants, under 2 years (0 - 10)
- Would you like annual multi-trip cover (yes or no)
- Would you like family cover (yes or no)
Second
screen - premium
Depending on the details selected on the previous screen
there can be several different options here or none
if there are no policies available.
The premium page is basic and to the point.
Frustratingly however there is no back button if you
want to go back and amend the details.
Though
the site is messy and amateurish the cover they provide
and the options available seem to be more than the other
insurers.
